Nutrition Basics – Micro-nutrients and macro-nutrients
On the basis of the amount required by the human body nutrients are classified in the following two categories: macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients are those nutrients that the body needs in large amounts. These provide the body with energy (calories). Micronutrients are those nutrients that the body needs in smaller amounts. Our bodies need nutrients in order to live and function properly. A differentiation is made between those that it needs in large quantities.
